The picture I used I chose not because it was relevant, but because it made me pee a little. Your students are really creative. And terrifying.
Integrals are my friend! I think.
So, this week marked the end of Chapter 5, and I've gotta say, I've grown a bit fond of the RAMs, squiggles, and nints.
With a bit of a rough start with 5.1-5.3, I was a little nervous about the Chapter test, but as the week went on, the new material started to become old material, and all of the math we did started to at least look familiar to me.
Honestly, I think what I most need to focus on before the test is not relying on my calculator. These sections really do not require the graphing calculator, but sometimes mid-test I panic and take twenty minutes to invent a way for my poor TI-84 to crank out a semi-close answer to whatever problem I freeze on. I think with enough practice and familiarity with kinda scary things like the trapezoidals and the means, I won't need to freak out when I get to the short answer questions.
Not having a CCC in class for 5.5, even though I thought I understood the homework, made me feel kind of disconnected from the homework I did the night before. I sort of second-guessed my knowledge. I felt like I knew what I was doing, but without an immediate confirmation, I got a little nervous. Maybe on days I feel confident, I can do odd numbers and look them up in the back. Maybe I'm just a creature of habit.
Until next week,
Mia
